Business Unit Introduction – Technology Engineering Group (TEG)

Responsible for supporting the company and its business groups on technology and operational platforms, as well as the construction and operation of R&D management and data centers, TEG provides users with a full range of customer services. As the operator of the largest networking, devices, and data center in Asia, TEG also leads the Tencent Technology. Committee in strengthening infrastructure R&D through internal and distributed open source collaboration, constructing new platforms and supporting business innovation.

About the Role

We are looking for detail-oriented and culturally aware Game Localization Linguists to join our team. You will be responsible for reviewing, editing and localizing game content to ensure an accurate, natural and engaging experience for players in your target market.

You will work closely with the localization, design and development teams to maintain high-quality language assets and ensure that in-game content meets local language, cultural and compliance requirements.

Translation on Indonesian | Simplified Chinese | Traditional Chinese (Taiwan) | Traditional Chinese (Hong Kong)

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and refine AI-generated / machine-translated game content to ensure accuracy, natural language flow and consistency.
  • Proofread and edit in-game text based on terminology databases, style guides and local language conventions.
  • Conduct cultural and compliance reviews, identifying potentially sensitive political, religious, legal or cultural content.
  • Perform in-game language QA using test builds and identify translation, terminology and UI-related issues.
  • Work with design teams to optimize text presentation and UI readability where required.
  • Maintain and update glossaries, terminology databases, translation memories and localization assets.
  • Support the development and improvement of localization guidelines and language standards.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and provide language-related feedback throughout the game development cycle.

Requirements

  • Native-level proficiency in the target language and strong professional English communication skills.
  • Prior game localization experience is mandatory.
  • Experience in game proofreading, localization QA or editing is highly preferred.
  • Experience working on large-scale FPS / AAA game titles will be a strong advantage.
  • Familiar with AI / machine translation editing workflows.
  • Strong understanding of local culture, language trends, gaming terminology and player preferences.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent proofreading and editing skills.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Language-Specific Requirements

🇮🇩 Indonesian

  • Native Indonesian speaker.
  • Strong knowledge of current Indonesian language conventions, terminology and youth/internet slang.
  • Good understanding of Indonesian and Southeast Asian cultural sensitivities.

🇨🇳 Simplified Chinese(简体中文)

  • Native Simplified Chinese speaker with strong Mainland China language proficiency.
  • Familiar with current Chinese internet slang, gaming terminology and language conventions.
  • Good understanding of Mainland China market trends, cultural sensitivities and player preferences.

🇹🇼 Traditional Chinese(Taiwan)

  • Native-level Traditional Chinese (Taiwan) proficiency.
  • Candidates with Taiwan-born, long-term residency, education or substantial living experience in Taiwan are preferred.
  • Strong understanding of Taiwan Mandarin(國語), local gaming terminology and language conventions.
  • Familiar with Taiwanese gaming culture, player preferences and contemporary language trends.

🇭🇰 Traditional Chinese(Hong Kong)

  • Native-level Traditional Chinese (Hong Kong) proficiency.
  • Candidates with Hong Kong-born, long-term residency, education or substantial living experience in Hong Kong are preferred.
  • Strong understanding of Cantonese, Hong Kong language conventions and gaming terminology.
  • Familiar with Hong Kong gaming communities, media language and contemporary language trends
